In September we worked a lot on Lincoln’s eating. He’s still got quite a way to go but is definitely improving. Still hoping that he sleeps through the night at some point soon.
We hadn’t even had our 1 year anniversary in the house and already had to replace almost all of the switch covers and face plates. 3 boys make for one crazy house! This particular one was destroyed by a scooter. . .
And yes, even the face plates. . .that are up high on the wall. . .needed to be replaced. As Jay says constantly, “this is why we don’t buy nice things!” Haha, the fun of an active, all-boy, house!
I love that my guys are so much fun and always want to dress up. Someday I’ll be going to the grocery store without my little heroes and while the shopping will be much quicker and easier, I know I’ll look back and miss these crazy, fun and precious times!
Speaking of heroes. Here’s my own personal ninja warrior.
In September Jackson became very interested in making his own money. He didn’t want to do things around the house for money because he wanted to earn it himself-not have what Jay earned. So, he went out and solicited our neighbors and pulled weeds. He spent an entire day working while his buddies played kickball in the street. He was SO very proud of his earnings! My favorite part was watching him walk into Sunday school proudly holding 10 % of his earnings to put into the tithe basket. Love that he loved giving back a portion of his blessings.
It’s so much fun to have completed all 3 of the boys 6 month hand/foot print frames from Aunt Mandy.
One morning while I made breakfast the boys made an aardvark habitat to play in.
Much like the way he cuts cake, Jackson has his own way of slicing butter as well. No, I don’t get it. . .
Jackson was really bored with reading and so we took a break and then read adventure books in the fort during the little boys nap time. Definitely sparked his interest!
One day we went swimming with another family from our Classical Conversations campus. They have 3 children close in ages to ours. Their middle child, Lydia is just a little younger than Baron. I was getting Bear packed up to go home when we heard Jackson scream for help. Lydia had fallen into the pool and Jackson had seen it and screamed for us. By the time I ran over he had already laid down on this stomach and reached in and pulled her out. It was so scary but he reacted so quickly and did everything that he had been told to do in an emergency situation. The mother was almost in tears and hugging him, thanking him profusely for being so alert and reacting so quickly. Her oldest son had been with Jackson but hadn’t seen Lydia fall in. So, that night in honor of Jackson we had “hero chocolate milkshakes.” He was not too impressed with himself for saving her life but was very impressed with homemade milkshakes with homemade whipped cream.
Our little hero!
Later that night the boys made more widget creations.
Happy little Lincoln playing in his house.
He loves to open and close this door and for us to knock and ring the door bell. This little guy has everyone in the house wrapped around his finger!
I hadn’t even looked back when I asked the boys to go put on their shoes so that we could go to the chiropractor. Apparently I should have been more specific because Bear obeyed me and was ready to leave. He hadn’t been told to put on clothes. . .only socks and shoes.
This has been one of my mantras lately. I am constantly praying for patience with my sweet (but sometimes exhausting) boys. God has blessed us with these precious little souls and I’m trying desperately to do right by them.
