Workin’ It. . .

So, a few days ago I walk in the bathroom and Jackson is sitting up on the counter looking into the mirror and sweetly saying, “please mommy, please, please, please!”  I asked him what he was doing and he said.  “Just practicing being cute for the next time you tell me no.”  Hmmm, I think I’m in for it with this kid!

Helpful Jack

Jackson loves to help with just about everything.  Presents from Alex is no exception.  The other day he walked in and Jay and I were working on some candy and Jackson said, “Ok guys how can I help?”

He and Jay spent 2 hours working together and talking.  Love those guys!

Just fyi-Jackson is eating a larabar/nanabar while working. . .

And he’s been begging me lately to cut his hair short so he’ll look more like his daddy.  As much as I love his hair long and shaggy I figure he’s 3 and should be able to decide how he wants his hair to look.  So, here’s his new short haircut!

Great Grandmommy and the Boys

One of my all time favorite people has always been my grandmother.  And much to my delight she’s one of the boys favorite people as well!

Resurrection Eggs

Again, from April:

Jackson telling the Easter story through the resurrection eggs he made at school.
Jackson’s class made resurrection eggs to teach the kids the story of Easter.  Here’s Jackson explaining the story thru the eggs. . .

Bluebonnets 2011

Sadly, I didn’t get great bluebonnet pictures this year but I did get a few decent ones.  And yes, these are from early April.  But hey, better late than never!

Talking with Jack. . .

I know I’ve forgotten tons of the funny and crazy things Jackson has said in the months that I was on blogger hiatus but here are a few things that come to mind (and that I had saved in my phone).

******************************

Monday morning we were eating breakfast and Jackson said, “mom, I eat one bite of eggs and then one bite of oatmeal.  That’s just how I roll.   You wanna know why I roll like that, because (singing) I’m cool like that, I’m cool like that, I’m cool like that, I’m cool like that!”

******************************

Jackson: Papa is really selfish sometimes.

Me: Jackson, why would you say that about your Papa?

Jackson: Because he won’t just give us Freckles.  He should give her to us and just find a new dog.  We can take care of her!

******************************

When discussing the rapture and that guy that thought it was happening a few weeks ago. . .

Jackson: How does God bring your spirit to heaven anyway?

Me: I don’t really know Jack but that’s a good question.

Jackson: I know I know! I think God puts a strip on your back and then uses a huge magnet to pull you into heaven.

******************************

Jack has a major imagination.

Jack: What is that noise?

Me: It’s the dishwasher, I just turned it on.

Jack: Oh.  Phew.  I thought it was a bad guy putting powder into his gun.  Don’t worry mom. If it was I would run into the play room and grab the batacas (they boys favorite bats that are covered in material) and protect you and Bear.  I’m tougher than all bad guys and will always protect my family.

******************************

Driving in the car on the way to Nanny and Paw Paws Baron coughed.

Jackson: Bear, quit being such a hypochondriac!  You are fine!

******************************

Jackson: Hey mom, when you feel a good thought in your heart you know it’s from Jesus.    What is it from when you have a bad thought?

******************************

Jack: Mom what did you just spray on the windshield?

Me: Windshield wiper fluid.

Jack: Oh, who’s ears did they get the fluid from?

I guess Jack has only heard the term fluid when we were talking about his ear infections and fluid behind his eardrums.  I explained that fluid wasn’t always taken from a kids earsSmile

******************************

Someone honked at us while driving.

Jack: Mom, just honk back at that mean car.  It’s their punishment from God for being rude to you!

******************************

After going under water in the swimming pool.

Jack:  Uh oh mom.  My boogers are really scared!  Water got up into my nose and now they are afraid that pirates are coming!

******************************

Jackson: Mom, please can I have a little sister.  I really want a sister named Wendy.

Me: No, Jackson.  God gave you a brother and that’s really awesome because brothers are best friends.  And besides you want to play soccer and go to gymnastics camp and do lots of fun things.  I don’t have enough time to take you, Bear and a sister to do very many things.

Jackson (who is BEGGING to play soccer): What if I give up soccer and just help with Wendy?

Me: Still not going to happen Jack.  God gave us two boys.  I would be way too tired with 3 kids.

Jackson: Adrienne is having 3 kids.  She’s not tired at all.

******************************

After leaving Adrienne’s house the other day.

Jackson: Hey mom, you know how there are regular cars and then minivans.  And minivans are bigger than regular cars.  Well, Adrienne’s house is kind of a minivan house isn’t it?

******************************

I love the way Jackson talks.  When he’s curious about something he makes a statement and then asks why.   Such as:

God can do anything.  Why?

Light bulbs burn out after a while.  Why?

Dogs like to sniff you when they first meet you.  Why?

******************************

At Costco a lady was giving out samples of crackers.

Jackson:  Do these crackers have autolyzed yeast?

Costco Sample Lady: I don’t even know what that is. . .

Jackson: Oh, it’s Spanish for MSG.  Don’t eat MSG ever, even in Spanish!

******************************

At Kroger yesterday we were checking out and next to the register they had a bunch of Starbucks gift cards.

Jackson: Hey mom look, Starbucks is on groupon today.  Let’s call dad and see if we should buy it!

******************************

A very small branch from our tree was in our pool.

Jackson:  Oh no!  How long ago did this branch die? Did it’s spirit already go to heaven?

*******************************

Jackson:  Hey mom, sometimes when I am asleep bad guys attack me.  But when I’m awake nothing can attack me.  I am the most powerful man in the world.

*******************************

Jackson: Mom, how come some people are a different color than us?

Me: Well, God made everyone different so that the world would be prettier.  He made some people black and some people white and some. . .

Jackson: (interrupting) MOM!  Mom, where are the white people?  I really want to see some of those!

Me: Um, Jack, we are white people.

Jackson: No way mom.  (looking at his arm) We are NOT white.  White is like daddy’s underwear.  We are pink, or yellow, or something.  But we are not white!

The Adams Family 30 Day Ebay Challenge!

As I was working on our family budget today and thinking about getting our home more organized (ok, the “more” isn’t needed. . .I was thinking about getting organized period) I had an idea.  Having  received approval from Jay I can let you know that we are going to start the Adams Family 30 day Ebay challenge.  Now, you may have never heard of such a challenge, well, that’s because I made it up today.  And as with everything I make up it has the potential to be super fun and productive or such a disastrous flop that I delete this post and pray that nobody ever read it.  So, each day for the next 30 days we will list on ebay (and hopefully sell) 1 item from our home.  The goal is to have a little less clutter and a little extra cash at the end of the month.  I’ll keep you posted on how it goes, wish us luck!

Nanny’s 70th Birthday Weekend!

Last weekend Nanny turned 70 (although you wouldn’t know it by looking at her!) and we had such a fun time celebrating!  I have long called Beach City a heaven for little boys and this trip was no exception.  The boys had a blast playing with frogs, turtles and lizards, swimming in the pool, playing in the tree house (built by Paw Paw and painted by Nanny), driving the golf carts and splashing in the bay.  Combine all of that with wonderful doting grandparents and what more could you ask for?

One great thing about their pool is that it’s totally shaded by their trees until about 3 p.m. each day.  So no sun worries in the mornings!

Jay has been a rock star when it comes to helping Danielle and I with Presents from Alex.  He’s spent hours opening and cutting candy wrappers for headbands.  When Nanny saw what he was doing she wanted to help out.  Thanks guysWinking smile

DSC_0033

Saturday Danielle came over to get some work done and to babysit for the boys so that the adults could enjoy a nice birthday dinner out for Nanny’s big day.  Thank you SO MUCH to Danielle for helping out. . .it made the birthday dinner so relaxing.  And Jackson was thrilled to have Reagan over for the day.

DSC_0038

Once again, Reagan and Jack played together perfectly.  It’s so nice when they play because it’s stress free for the parents.  As long as you can see that they are not getting into trouble together there are no worries.  Love that combination!

DSC_0040

They loved watching Paw Paw make the door for the tree house.

DSC_0046DSC_0048

Yes, Jack still does “toot face!”

DSC_0053

Both boys were so happy all weekend!

DSC_0056DSC_0057

Jay and Jack took a walk down to the Bay.

DSC_0058

Baron was not happy to be left behind.

If you click on the picture below you can see the blue and brown tree house above my car.  I need to get the pictures off of Nanny and Paw Paw’s camera because that’s the one I used to get pictures of Jack playing with them up in the tree house.  It’s pretty awesome and they are looking for a pirate flag to go with it.  Paw Paw also built a roof but they had it off while we were there.

Paw Paw played with Bear while Daddy and Jack were down in the water.

If one boy is in daddy’s lap the other is soon to follow!

This picture is so funny.  Jackson is SUCH a mini me of Jay!

DSC_0112

The guys all went back down to the bay, this time taking Bear with them.

DSC_0119DSC_0122DSC_0144DSC_0153

We have a picture similar to this of Jay throwing Jackson up into the air in Cape Cod at a similar age.

DSC_0157DSC_0162DSC_0164

Bear loved splashing around in the water!

DSC_0175DSC_0178DSC_0180DSC_0192

And back into the pool with daddy.

DSC_0203DSC_0204DSC_0223

Jack is so much more comfortable in the water this year.  Now we just need him to swim withOUT the life jacket.

DSC_0226DSC_0228DSC_0230

Baron kept pulling the lid off of the skimmer (I think that’s what it’s called) and trying to put stuff into it.

DSC_0235

Jay decided to reach thru and grab Baron the next time he opened the lid.

DSC_0244

Bear was hysterical laughing and quickly slammed down the lid and stomped it down.

DSC_0236

Bear is actually standing on the lid here.

DSC_0237

Aunt Mandy gave Baron some super awesome toys for his birthday and this is one of them. Bear loved playing with them at Nanny and Paw Paw’s house and we enjoyed him being in one place for a few minutes!

DSC_0259DSC_0264

As usual Jack spent a lot of time with his toy pirates.

DSC_0268

I just love this place, we really wish it wasn’t 5 hours away. . .

DSC_0272

Another favorite is the pogo swing!

DSC_0275

On Sunday Aunt Sherri made the ever delicious strawberry cake. It’s an Adams/Osby family favorite!

DSC_0282

Jackson was more than a little excited when we told him he could have a piece. . .

DSC_0284DSC_0292DSC_0293DSC_0294

And after his first bite. . .he said he didn’t like it and just asked for some plain strawberries instead.  Funny little guy.

DSC_0296

Jack LOVES his Aunt Ree Ree and Uncle Dennis!

DSC_0299

DSC_0300

I just love this picture of Nanny and Paw Paw.  They are such a loving couple and a great example to our boys!

Jack loves to help Nanny with anything outdoors!

DSC_0307DSC_0311

The golf cart is always a favorite of both boys.

DSC_0318DSC_0321DSC_0323

Baron really wanted to go into the tree house and tried to climb the ladder multiple times.  It will be so fun when both of my little pirates can play in it!

DSC_0325DSC_0329

My pictures are a little out of order but here is our family shot from after dinner on Saturday.  We had a GREAT seafood dinner at The Monument Inn.  After dinner we went home and played spinners (dominoes) and then gave Charlotte her birthday present.  We gave her a video/slideshow with pictures from her entire life and the background was all of her family and friends wishing her a happy birthday and talking about favorite memories etc.  It was so awesome and I so appreciate all of the family helping out!  And a special thank you to Adrienne and Jamie for all of their help with production!!

DSC_0051

Happy 70th Nanny, we love you SO much and can’t wait to come back for another visit!
