April 2014, Part 1

It’s that time, folks. . .I’m yet again, attempting to catch up on the blog.  It’s something that I really enjoyed doing but didn’t have the time for and it fell by the wayside.  So, starting now my goal is to catch up within the next few months.  And, if all goes as planned (which we all know it never does), it’ll happen.  Without further ado, I give you, LAST AprilSmile.

Poor Jackson was in the emergency room quite a few times last year.  April was pretty rough for him.  However, he had missed so much school due to his concussion and Lincoln’s salmonella that he begged to go even if he wasn’t 100%.  So, a few times he had to step into the hall for a quick breathing treatment.  Sweet little guy is never phased by being sick.

We had bought tickets to Disney on Ice with Adrienne and serendipitously, the Dallas Zoo homeschool day was the same week.  So, we headed to Dallas for a quick trip including a few very fun activities.  Lincoln was so happy to be sitting on a bar stool like a big boy.

Disney on Ice fun!

Gaga has an awesome infrared sauna in her home and the boys and I really enjoyed it!

All of the boys love Gaga snuggles!

The next day we headed to the Dallas Zoo with Gaga.  And again we were able to go with the Hirst and Stump families which is always a big treat.

Homeschool day at the Zoo was a total success.  So much fun and it was even more special to have Gaga with us!

Jackson and his best buddies at Classical Conversations.  Homeschooling Kindergarten was such a great experience for us.

On the last day of CC, we had an egg drop contest.  Each kid had to make a pod (with very limited and specific items) and then drop an egg from 10 feet into the air.  Jackson was excited (and a little nervous) about it.

Out of place picture but Jay tried to teach Lincoln (1 year old) how to ripstik. . .

It was finally decided that L  was more successful on his 4 wheeler.

And Baron was having a ball on his balance bike!

Lincoln was (at 1) a pro on the indoor pogo stick!

Back to the Egg Drop competition.  Caleb (Jackson’s best buddy) was ready to go.

Jackson putting the final touches on his egg pod.  Their only supplies were paper towels, rubber bands and popsicle sticks.  They were able to practice for a week before hand but had to assemble the pod at CC that morning.

VICTORY!!!  Only two eggs survived and Jackson’s was one of them.

Every Tuesday CC is from 9:15-12:15 and then we eat lunch and play on the playground for about an hour.

Baron and Lincoln were in the nursery (you can start CC at age 4) but they absolutely loved the nursery teacher.  Mrs. Kendalyn was so sweet to the boys and we just loved her.

His face doesn’t show it (me being behind the camera was a little alarming to him) but he did love her!

My poor neighbors.  It’s totally normal for the boys to be on the swing set very minimally clothed. . .

IMG_1202

But they sure do have fun!

IMG_1203

One of my very favorite things about homeschooling is all of the fun fieldtrips.  We get to go on so many field trips all of the time and see so many cool things.  We toured Amy’s ice cream factory and the kiddos loved it.  Partially because it was cool but mostly because they got to eat Amy’s ice cream.

Lincoln was miserably fussy the whole time.  Writing this one full year later makes it so much easier because I now know that he started talking and thus became a very happy and loving little boy.  Back then he was so fussy and angry all of the time.  Praise the Lord that things changed!

Very happy ice cream connoisseurs.

IMG_1227

Seeing this sweet and happy face always brightens my day.

IMG_1234

Stop the presses.  Even Lincoln, age 1,  got a small scoop.  I was waving the white flag here my friends.  His constant screaming was like sandpaper rubbing and scraping at my health conscious convictions.  Sometimes, a few moments of not having someone scream in your face is worth something.  And yes, my sanity was salvaged by those few moments of quiet due to said sugary goodness.

Jackson with two of his best buddies, Roan and Matthew.  They are all in the same class.  I love these kiddos.

Lincoln’s screaming was so loud at one point that we had to step out.  Sweet Bear stepped out with us.

IMG_1256

After the tour we went to the playground.

IMG_1260

It’s such a blessing knowing all of these kids and their precious mommies so well.

IMG_1280

Our next door neighbors had a crawfish boil and Baron was super stoked to actually handle one.

IMG_1307

Jackson had studied very hard to make memory master at CC which entails making a perfect score when tested on EVERYTHING they had learned the entire year.  He did very well and learned all of the materials in almost all of the subjects.  We rewarded his efforts with a new Lego set.

IMG_1309

Baron has always been a ladies man.  Here he is with two of his sweet friends, Clara and Addison.

Silly faces with my favorite curly headed boy.

Lincoln brought me a flower.  Be still my heart.
