We have been promising to take Jackson back to the fair since we went with Papa and Nana two years ago. Last year we couldn’t go because Jay had just started a new job and we didn’t want him to take time off so soon. This year with Jay unemployed we definitely had the time so we busted open our family fun piggy bank and were off!
Jay was insistent that we ride the train down town and the kids loved it. Of course on the way back he was reminded of why I wanted to drive. We left the house at 8:30 a.m. and the kids were thrilled.
Yep, that’s Jackson eating ice cream, before noon, and I’m taking a picture. Pigs are flying. I went crazy at the fair.
Stand back. . .Bear got some too. Luckily he didn’t like it. But yes, I gave my 20 month old ice cream. Jack’s first sugar was at the fair two years ago so I figured why not. And as a side note: WE HAVE NOT OPENED THE FLOODGATES. Bear can have ice cream again next year at the fair.
Not a great picture but how could I not include a picture of a fletchers corny dog?!
The boys got free bandana’s and couldn’t wait to wear them.
Jack was SO excited to see Big Tex. The last time we went to the fair was Texas/OU game day so it was packed and we couldn’t get close to him. This time there was barely anyone there so we had full access to everything.
The night before I had gone through the schedule and picked 8 fun things/shows for us to hit. The backyard circus was Jack’s favorite.
The kids all got to dress up and be a part of a circus.
The lions and tiger (Jack) were doing tricks.
Jay wanted to go back for more free ice cream. I had my wits back so I gave the boys fruit leather. They are typically a big treat so they were thrilled and didn’t mind not getting any more ice cream.
This was right before Bear licked his fruit leather package. After throwing his ice cream down after just a few bites I was glad that the fruit snacks still did the trick.
Next we went to “Little Hands on the Farm.” It’s Jackson’s all time favorite thing at the fair. It was also Mia’s favorite thing so I think that helps. Kids get to go through a full as a farmer, it’s super cute.
Jack loved picking the fake eggs.
Jack and Bear in the tractor.
Bear was speechless on the ferris wheel.
Jack was thrilled to be back on his favorite ride. And yes, he had many favorites.
Love my Jackie Bobo!
Best Adams Family Fun Day EVER!
My 3 favorite guys.
Jack got to choose 3 rides and the cars were a sure thing.
Here he is in the same ride (different car) two years ago.
The 3rd and final ride. I was worried he would throw a fit about only doing 3 rides but he didn’t even complain.
Just wondering, Jay, do you EVER check this blog?
Then we went to the birds of the world show.
It was awesome and both boys sat through the entire show with no complaints.
Jack loved that the bird took the dollar out of his hand.
The worst family picture ever considering you can’t really see any of us. But hey, it shows us and Big Tex.
We met Elsie.
Jay considered a career in bee keeping. Seriously.
And Jackson got to choose our final activity (before the parade) and chose to go back to Little Hands on the Farm.
Milking the cows.
Planting his crops.
The parade started at 8 p.m. Yes, we were all very tired. But as you can see the guys were still having a blast.
This was one of the best days we have had in a long time. Lots of laughter, family fun and no stress.
Everything in life isn’t always perfect but when I look at these 3 sweet guys I know how blessed we really are just to be together.
Although getting home after 9 was exhausting the day was definitely worth it. And it’s no surprise that Jackson is already asking when we can go next year!
