Not such a great idea. . .

Lately I've had a couple of ideas that sounded good at first and then a few minutes later. . .not so much. . .
Pregnancy brain is real folks!
So, my first not so bright idea was to give into Jackson's begging for a skateboard. He had seen a commercial at some point where a dog was riding a skateboard and was on a mission to get one. I had no worries about this b/c we never go anywhere that sells skateboards. Then several days ago I was picking up an outfit for baby Charlie at Macy's and what was right next to the register? Toddler skateboards being sold with little shirts. Jackson went wild wanting one. Thinking it was pretty cute (the skateboard and shirt. . .not the fit Jackson threw) I got it. As soon as I got into the car I became terrified of what I had just given him. So, off we went to get a helmet, knee pads, gloves and elbow pads. And he's actually loved playing on it (while holding a parents hand) and it hasn't seemed too dangerous.
My second "less than bright" idea was to teach Jackson about recycling. We had a play date on Wednesday and had used a bunch of plastic cups. I (with my serious lack of brain power) had forgotten to get out the bag we use to put the recyclable stuff in. So, what is a fun way to talk to Jackson about it? Dirty jobs (a show Jay watches) style! We put on rubber gloves and went through the trash (which was really only cups and plates) to pick out the cups to put in the recycle bin. Jackson LOVED it. I don't think he really got the whole "limited space on our planet, landfills getting full" concept but digging through trash. . .wearing gloves. . .awesome! The bad part is that to me that was a one time activity. Now Jackson is ready to go through any trash, anywhere to look for plastic cups. Husbands beware of wives with pregnancy brain. And friends, guard your trash when Jackson is over!

I'll toss some plastic cups in our trash just to keep him entertained when he's here! ;-)
