Papa and Nana Visit

Nana and Papa came to visit us the weekend of July 20th!

They planned for us to go to Inner Space Caverns on Saturday and it was so much fun!  Here we are looking at the map of the caverns.

The tour was totally awesome!  There’s another tour that we heard about that you have to be 13 to go on.  It’s called “hidden caverns” and you wear knee and elbow pads and a helmet with a light and you crawl through tiny spaces for 4 hours.  That sounds like hell on earth to me but Nana promised to take Jackson when he is old enough.  I said I would happily cook them dinner during the tour.

Our crew in the cave!  Unfortunately Nanny was very sick and in the hospital so Jay went to stay with her and Paw Paw for the weekend.  Our boys are such a lively crowd that it wouldn’t have been a good time for all 5 of us to go.  We missed Jay but were so happy that he could be there to love on his sweet parents.

Papa, Freckles and Lincoln.  Linc still just loves Freckles.  He was obsessed with petting her and saying “dada!”  That’s pretty much his word for everything these days.

I love seeing my dad with the boys.  He’s so patient and loving and just pours into them.  My guys are so very blessed.DSC_0014

Nana and Jack are serious buddies.  It’s so cool that Nana plays with him and does stuff that he loves.  They love to do legos, read, and all kinds of fun projects.  He was a happy boy all weekend.

Jack, Papa and Freckles played baseball.  Papa was the pitcher, Jack was the batter and Freckles was the catcher.  It was a perfect set up since she happily ran and retrieved all of the balls!

Nana and Papa also installed our new baby gate, got Jackson’s bike tuned up and ready to go and helped with countless other things around the house.  It was so nice having them.

Nana and I share the picture addiction.  Here she is getting a few shots of Linc, also known as Dinka to his older brothers.

Since we all had the flu when we were supposed to celebrate Bear’s 3rd birthday with Nana and Papa we decided to have a special night for him during this visit.  We had a pizza party with the awesome new baking stones that Gaga gave us for Valentine’s day.

We made roasted garlic, artichoke, pineapple, bell pepper and goat cheese pizzas on gluten free crust.  They were DELISH!

I just love these pictures (as you can tell by the fact that I included them all) of the boys with Nana and Papa.  They have so much fun together and were just wrestling and playing and I decided I had to get a few shots.  Grandparents are such an enormous blessing and my boys are blessed beyond measure!  It’s so tough not living near my family after doing so for so many years but we’ve had such amazing visits with them and that’s definitely helping.

This one is a framer for sure.
