M-I-C-K-E-Y MOUSE!!

Jackson is still obsessed with all things Mickey so obviously that's who he's dressing as for Halloween. Here are a couple of shots of him all dressed up. He insists on wearing his costume all of the time. Thanks Gaga!

Two steps forward one step back:)

First of all for the steps forward. . .
1) Jax now eats fruit (and oatmeal)! He loves watermelon, cantelope, strawberries, pineapple, bananas and maybe a few others I haven't thought of. He still doesn't like apples, grapes (he's hit or miss) or kiwi. But I've been very persistant so I'm sure one of these days he'll like almost all fruits:) Of course he did tell me tonight at dinner that the mandarin oranges I served him tasted like diarhhea. Nice Jax, very descriptive. And yet another reminder that I'm about to be VERY outnumbered!
2) After reports from school about for goofing off and not following directions the first time his reports both last Thursday and today were awesome. Jay and I had been talking to him a lot about listening and obeying his teachers and Mrs. Brazeal and Mrs. Bell said it really paid off. They both have a tough time punishing Jax b/c they say his smile and dimples make it hard not to just laugh when he playfully disobeys. Anyway, 2 less than perfect days followed by 2 great days so we're happy.

And the step back. . .
1) We have let Jackson develop some majorly bad sleep habits the last 10 days. There was a lot of chaos followed by him not feeling well/being scared etc. and now we have to clean up the mess. All last week he cried for more songs/books etc. Friday night he was up begging for more of anything he could think of until after 10 p.m. Of course he got up super early Saturday and was a serious pill on the way to the organic farm. We had a 90 minute drive and Jackson was on his worst behavior yet. . .out of his entire 26 months. Luckily Papa was with us for the fun:) Anyway, we have corrected our actions the last two nights and things seem to be getting better. Phew!

Here are some recent pictures because I just know with my frequent updates you may have forgotten what he looks like. . .ha ha.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this picture, I just wish it wasn't blurry. Such a bummer:(

My little guy "working" in the front yard.

He looks like such a little man here. Maybe it's just me.

Goofy Jax.

Jackson loves to sit on the bench in the front yard and talk or play his guitar. This particular day he asked Bill to sit with him.
Bill: what are we going to do.
Jax: talk
Bill: about what
Jax: just ideas
Bill: ok
Jax: actually, ideas and I play guitar

Belated Birthdays. . .

I totally forgot to wish my awesome sister (known to her biggest fan, Jackson, as "MY aunt sissy") or my amazing grandmother a happy birthday. Of course I did call/email/text/facebook etc. on their birthdays but forgot to post it on the blog. Dang pregnancy brain! Anyway, happy birthday to both of you! Jackson and I will celebrate with Aunt Sissy next month when we are in Boston. We got to celebrate with Grandmommy last Thursday. Here's the family wishing GM a very happy 79th:)

Looking Back. . .

Being the sappy pregnant chic that I am, I just had to post the Owens Farm link from last year. . .seeing how tiny Jackson looks in the barrell and feeding the animals compared to this year was just too fun.
Click here to see last years Owen's Country Farm visit.
Also click here to see Jax and Ellie at the pumpkin patch pictures from last year. It's so hard to believe that was only last year!

A Day at the Fair!!!

Last weekend we went to the fair with Nana and Papa. We had such a wonderful time! It was the first time ever for Jay and Jackson to visit the fair. It's hard to believe Jay had lived in Texas for 32 years and never eaten a Fletchers corny dog. . .but luckily the intervention worked and he's now a raving fan. Jackson had a few sinful foods but I figured he'd only see things like that at the fair and so we didn't have to worry about them being common requests.

Jax riding the motorcycle.

He was bummed at first that he had to sit in the back (b/c he was too short to sit up front) but when he realized he had a horn in the back as well as the front he was good to go!

Jay and Nana.

The cars were a big hit as well.

Jackson got in trouble on the boats for sticking his hand in the water. My parents have video of me getting in trouble for the same thing on the same ride when I was two.

Getting ready to ride the kiddie roller coaster with Papa.

You might have to enlarge the picture to see but Jax and Papa are the only riders who held their hands up the entire time. Such dare devils:)

Jax loving on Nana.

Where else can you try fried butter? We declined but it did sound interesting.

We left our house at 9 a.m. and didn't get home until 9:30 p.m. Jackson did very well the entire day other than one meltdown at the bird show. Can you tell he's exhausted?

Laying on the ground at the bird show for a short rest.

Notice the stage. Jackson actually ran across the stage at one point. Awesome moment of horror for me. Nana was the only one able to calm Jax and get him back to his happy self.

Jackson is happy again and loving being with Daddy, Papa and Nana.

Jax was obsessed with Big Tex.

Here we are hiding from the TX/OU crowd. The game had just gotten out.

See why we were hiding?

Nana showing Jackson the "Wheels on the Bus" app for her iphone.

Nana with Jackson who is wearing his new cool sunglasses:)

Waiting for more rides.

Jackson dancing in front of the height sign. He was thrilled to be tall enough for most of the kiddie rides. The majority of them required 36 inches and he's 37ish!

Looking up at the ferris wheel.

Jackson "reaching high" like he will on the ferris wheel.

Just the 3 of us.

Jackson was only interested in finding Big Tex and learning how the big wheel worked.

"Nana, what happened Big Tex?"

THE.BEST.SNACK.EVER.

Doesn't look like much but this was SOOOO good!

Jackson and Papa posing with Big Tex.

Jackson kept saying "What happened that guy Big Tex so big?"

Ok, after way too many pictures the breakdown is below:
Jackson rode (and most more than once):
race cars
boats
airplanes
roller coaster
motorcycles
helicopters
and of course the ferris wheel
He couldn't decide on his favorite.

We ate:
Kettle corn
Corny dogs
Fried smores-Hillary and Nana's favorite
Fried banana pudding-Papa's favorite
Fried cheese curds-Jay's favorite

We even stayed late enough to watch the parade and the fireworks. Jackson had one of the most fun days of his life and is still talking about it regularly. What an awesome first experience for Jay and Jax's first time at the fair.
It was an incredible day of far too much food and even more fun. Thanks Nana and Papa!

Last Friday

Last Friday we spent the evening with the Hirst family. It was our first dinner out with all 7 of us. Seems like so much longer than 2 years ago it was just the 4 of us hanging out! Here are some fun pictures.

Adrienne has always been one of Jackson's favorite people to snuggle.

Ellie and Jack loved running around and playing on the ducks:)

Damian and sweet baby Charlie.

The kids also loved the creek. They were going crazy to touch the water.

Ellie touching the water.

If only Jack would have looked at the camera!

Ellie saw a stranger eating ice cream and literally made a bee line to try to charm some ice cream from him! She was relentless with the flirting, it was hysterical!

She would not take no for an answer, so cute.

Thanks Adrienne and Damian for such a great night!

A Day at the Pumpkin Patch

Last Wednesday our MOMS Connection group from church went to Owens Country Farm to get pumpkin patch pictures and let the kids play. Jay was sweet enough to come with us which Jackson loved. Jax had one meltdown over wanting to be the driver for the barrel ride but other than that had a blast!

Jack and Jay feeding the goats.

Jackson was hysterical over the goats licking his hand.

It was so fun to see Jackson so happy.

Loving the barrel ride with Dylan and Meredith.

Running around the barn looking for horses.

In the pumpkins.

Trying to get Jax to sit still and smile for pictures is near impossible.

Adams family 3. . .I can't believe pretty soon we'll have 4!

Another family shot.

Jackson loving the barrel ride, again!

Jackson loves to hug Meredith. Her brother, Dylan, is Jackson's age so she's used to the little guys loving on her:)

The barrel ride driver let Jackson sit in the driver's seat. BIG MISTAKE. Getting him off was NOT easy.

Mike, the driver, was Jackson's hero!

Our group having lunch.

Ellie arrived and Jackson loved feeding the goats again with her. Ellie had been sick for the last several days so we were so happy to see them!

Jack and his BFF Ellie.

Jax and Ellie loved the maze.

Best pals. Ellie was doing a far better job sitting still and posing.

Climbing hay.

Jay helped Jackson chose the perfect pumpkin for his Mickey Mouse stuff from Carolyn.

Jackson was so muddy by the end we had to strip him down before getting into the car.

Jackson's awesome Mickey Mouse pumpkin. Thanks Carolyn! And yes, the hands are upside down:)
