Son of a Son of a Sailor. . .

Last Thursday Jackson was 8 months old, I can't believe how fast the time goes by. He's such an amazing little guy who continues to make me smile each morning. Lately he's been busy cruising around the house like a speed racer and army crawling everywhere. He will sometimes crawl on his hands and knees but his army crawl is so much faster that he usually resorts to that to get where he wants to go. He loves to sit in his little arm chair and "read" books (of course he quickly decides that eating the book might be more fun).

And quite often he crawls over to the bath tub and tries to get into it. He LOVES baths and loves splashing!

At this point he's still babbling quite a bit but we don't really understand any of it. He says mama, baba and dada but I don't think he associates the sounds with anyone or anything in particular. Most of the time he points to things and does the ever ambiguous "uh uh" to communicate. We're working on sign language and he understands a few signs (drink, food, fan, etc.) but definitely isn't using any yet. That pretty much summarizes the news on the Jackson front.
Jay is doing better but his herniated discs are still bothering him quite a bit. Jay has always wanted to see Jimmy Buffet live and we were able to go to the conert on Saturday evening after doing a church service project that day. We had a great time and Jay got to hear his favorite song (which he deems Jackson's song)"Son of a Son of a Sailor."
The weekend was pretty busy but really fun and now it's Monday and Jackson is finally taking a nap and I'm folding laundry and typing this. I'm still enjoying the huge blessing of being able to stay home and raise Jackson and finally feeling like I'm getting a handle on the domestic stuff:)

Jackson's First Bloody Nose

Poor Jackson had his first bloody nose on Monday morning. He was cruising around the coffee table and lost his balance because he was so excited that Jay walked into the room. He wasn't really hurt but it did bleed which made Jay and I sad. Speaking from experience (and b/c Jackson is basically Jay's mini me) Jay says this won't be the last bloody nose. I'm working on safety proofing and padding our entire house!

Good Bye Glen and Becky. . .

On Sunday night we had a good bye party Glen and Becky from our old community group (Bible Study) from Northwest Bible Church. It was great to see everyone and really made us miss our awesome group!

Jackson at 7 1/2 Months. . .

Jackson is such a delight to wake up to each day and is making us laugh more and more. He's been crawling like a wild man for some time now and has recently started pulling up on furniture, my pants, or actually anything he can grab to stand up. He's not really cruising yet but had pulled up twice a week ago and I'd thought it was a fluke but today he did it about 25 times. Also he's on again off again on the food thing. Some days he loves it and excitedly opens his mouth and others we have to make him laugh and shove it in. Last night we were doing this and he learned to laugh with his mouth closed. It was so funny because he was getting so tickled and trying not to open his mouth. He is so precious! He also loves going for walks and going to the park. He typically ends up staring at the older kids which makes sense because he adored and was mystified by Mia when we were in Boston.
On another note Jay was rear ended yesterday by a woman going 90 mph so he's been taking medicine and trying to let his back heal. He's OK and surprisingly enough there was minimal damage to his car but his back isn't doing well at all. He's really being a trooper though, poor guy!
And finally I'm still counting down the days until Adrienne, Damian and little Ellie move to Plano. Another stay at home mom in my neck of the woods is a very good thing!!!

A Weekend With Paw Paw and Nanny!

Jay's parents came in for the weekend and we had a wonderful time. Jackson loved being held and cuddled by his grandparents and they were more than happy to watch him in the mornings so I could sleep a little longer (yippee!!!!).
One of our favorite activities was going to see the flowers again. Bill and Grandmommy joined us and Jay was able to come because it was a Saturday. We all had a great time. The flowers were beautiful and this time I had Jackson in the sling instead of the car seat. He enjoyed it MUCH more and got hysterical each time I helped him to smell the flowers. I have no idea what was so funny but it was awesome to hear his sweet laugh!

We Finally Have A Winner!!!

Last night Jay was feeding Jackson and we actually found something he likes!!! In the past he's gagged and really hated everything we've given him (except for Aunt Jenna's homemade buttery food in Boston). But last night he had corn and summer squash and really enjoyed it. Maybe it was the fact that Gaga and Nana had done such a great job of feeding him over the weekend or maybe he's finally getting the hang of the whole eating thing but still. . .good news!

Welcome Bryn Reese Hatch!

We finally got to go see little Bryn yesterday and she is so precious and tiny! I can't wait to hold her again!

Congratulations to Lesley and Cameron!

Saturday was Lesley and Cameron's wedding and it was perfect. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to hear about their honeymoon!

The Simmon's Flowers!

Last week a group of us went with Bill and Grandmommy to see the flowers as has been our tradition for the last several years. The garden was beautiful and it was fun to see everyone after having been in Boston for so long.

Cute Cousins!

I can't even remember how many times people asked us if Jackson and Lennon were twins in Boston. I guess they do look pretty similar. By the way thanks for the adorable outfits Jess!
