Coldish/Fluish/Fall Crud. . .and Coffee!

Well, I haven't posted anything this week because we were super busy and now we are sick. Jackson has an ear infection (the fun part is that he gets up at 4 or 5 a.m.) and lots of other crud and now I have it too. Not fun. But it's been such a blessing to have Jay working from home this week because my awesome husband has helped out tremendously!
On a funny note I was sitting on the floor of the kitchen this afternoon (waiting for my zyrtec to kick in) letting Jackson make a huge mess when he found the baking cups (you know those papers you put cupcakes in). So, he immediately starts freaking out smiling and doing his "uh uh" thing pointing to what looked like the dishwasher. He's getting more and more excited and pulls up his favorite sail boat stool and I realize he's trying to climb up onto the counter. So, wondering what in the world he's so excited about I sit him on the counter. He's now laughing and clapping (totally crumpling the paper) and grabs the coffee maker and hits the button to pop out the compartment where the filter goes. He puts the baking cup (or as he apparently thinks the coffee filter) in the coffee maker, takes the empty coffee pot out and pours air into the water compartment and hits the start button. I have never seen my son look so proud. You would have thought that he had just won the lottery (if he knew what that was). I was so amused by his valiant attempt at making coffee that I even forgot how sick I was feeling. I also felt a little bad that we weren't actually making coffee because he loves to hear the coffee grind.
So, since I have no pictures of today I'll post a picture from last weekend before we were sick. I just love the little outfit he's wearing here, thanks Owen!

Jackson Has Two Mommies

This week Jackson has stopped calling Jay baba (his version of dada) and started calling him mama like he calls me. So, basically he will excitedly greet me with "mama!" in the morning and then immediately put his hands up into his "ba?" and say "mama?"
It's pretty funny and totally reminds me of BJ calling all of the grandparents Bill. When he was first talking he would greet all of the grandparents with, "Hi Bill, hi Bill, hi Bill, where's Bill?"
Anyway, thought it was pretty funny and as usual I find it adorable!

Ok, so I'm not exactly unbiased but this baby is just cute!

And yes, I know the hair is getting a little long and a little crazy:)

TAGGED!!!!

Well, I just found out today that I had been "tagged" by Adrienne. I guess this is a new blog thing to help everyone to know WAY more about their friends than they ever wanted to. Sounds fun to me!
Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person who tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write six random thoughts about yourself
4. Tag six or so people at the end of your post
5. Let each person know he or she has been tagged
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted

Click on Adrienne's name above for her interesting facts!

And here are my crazy (and hopefully not insane enough to warrent re-evaluating our friendship)quirks:

1) When I'm on the treadmill or running outside I have to touch things an equal amount with each hand. So if I move the treadmill up with my left hand I know that the next time I adjust the speed or the incline it must be done with my right. And when I watch tv (sometimes while running) I have to have the volume of the tv on an even number. I can't concentrate if the number of the volume ends in 1,3,7, or 9. I'm fine with it ending in a 0,2,4,5,6 or 8. Really 5 is the only odd number that I am at all comfortable with. Jogging with the ipod makes this much easier since it uses a bar and not numbers to denote the level of volume.

2) When I hear songs I usually imagine a montage of my life set to the music. For example if I hear an upbeat and fun song I think about taking boxing lessons and running up the stairs from Rocky in sweats. Working out like crazy and becoming the cool chic from The Matrix. And when I hear a sentimental song I will picture my life with Jay. First our meeting and not dating. . .funny times in college. . .then us getting together and having a candle light dinner in Hawaii, our engagement, wedding, finding out I'm pregnant, Jackson etc. Then I add in future things. . .I'll make up a few kids and maybe a really cool 25th anniversary surprise party our kids will throw us. Then when the song sounds sad I'll think of our kids missing us when they are super old and we are dead.

3) Going along with #2, I'll think of how great of a movie my life would make and maybe who should play me on the big screen. And then I have a big mental debate. . .would I want someone really hot to play me? But then what if in the credits they showed real pictures of my family. So, if the actress is really pretty than people would say "man -so and so hot actress- is so much better looking than the real Hillary" or would I rather have some really ugly actress (as if those exist) play me to where people would say "wow -so and so ugly actress- did a great job in this role but the real Hillary was actually prettier." You know, what do you do? The royalties would probably be much higher with a super hot actress b/c more people would see it, but then I'll always be known as the uglier version of myself. It comes down to the question of money or pride? Of course you could always take the money and make yourself better looking. . .
I have still not reconciled this in my mind.
Ponderable. . .very ponderable.

4) I desperately want to be a super organized person but really lack all of the necessary skills. Anyway, I usually have a list of things I need to do each day (typically written on the back of an important piece of paper). At the end of the day I want to have everything crossed off. This does not always happen. So, I at least want to have 90% done b/c that's at least an A. When I don't have 90% of my list completed I will add things to it that I have already done such as giving Jackson a bath or putting away the laundry just so that I reach my goal of 90% completed. I'm the only one who sees these lists or even knows these things need to be done so it makes no sense for me to do this but I still do:)

5) Anytime I have ever won any contest, drawing or cake walk (yes, I won 6 cake walks in middle school) I have always known I was going to win before hand. Now this might just be because I always feel like I'm going to win. . .you know, I'm really a lucky kind of person. Or it could be that I'm partly psychic. Either way it's pretty cool.

6) When I'm trying to be fiscally responsible or stick to a budget I will just calculate the future value of whatever I want to buy to see if I should really get it. For instance if whatever I am looking at costs $45 than I will just think about the future value assuming a certain rate of return until retirement age. Then I have to ask myself if the item is really worth that value. Usually I will say no. But then sometimes I think of crazy inflation and the present economy and figure I'll get more fun out of spending it now rather than saving it for the year 2042 (when I'm 65).

And now the people that I'm tagging (I'm tagging more than 6 b/c some of these people might not be able to do it:
1. Dacia
2. Joanie
3. Paige
I'm just totally copying Adrienne on this one b/c I am out of brain power. . .
These people don't have blogs of their own, but I thought they could post their quirky thoughts in the comments section of this post. Also anyone else who wants to play I would love your info. . .I just have no idea who even reads my blog.
4. Gaga and/or PawPaw
5. Nanny and/or Paw Paw
6. Nana and/or Papa
7. Aunt Mandy
8. Grandmommy
9. Aunt Carolyn

No pressure if you don't want to do this. . .especially those of you with new babies and new houses!!!

Pals at the Pumkin Patch and the Park

Yesterday we went to the pumkin patch and then the park with Adrienne and Ellie. Jackson LOVES seeing them as much as we can. He always snuggles up to both of them and yesterday when they left before us he ran after them waving wildly and saying his version of bye (which is pretty much uhhhh uhhhh). Ellie is such a happy baby who just loves to do anything. It is so cool to have them togehter so much and to think about how they will grow up as best pals!

Sadly I couldn't get any good pictures of the two of them together at the pumkin patch.

Jackson making a run for it

Aunt Adrienne got him this cute shirt. . .thanks!

Despite how cute the hood is he won't wear it for very long.

Ellie is so sweet and always happy!

Such a cute Halloween shirt!

Weekend Update

Jay surprised me by coming home at midnight on Thursday and getting up with Jackson friday morning. . .it was wonderful. After being up with a sick and feverish Jax from 4 a.m. until midnight Thursday, I really appreciated sleeping until 8:30 on Friday! The rest of the day I let Jackson recover while Jay worked.

Saturday morning we went to Owen's 3rd birthday party. They had a big train and the party was at a park with a playground that Jackson just loved. It was awesome to see the Hatch/Owens family and to get some baby time with Little Bryn!

Jackson ran for me when he saw that I was loving on sweet Bryn. Good thing there's no little sibling yet!

Two kids are fun. . .for a second. . .

Jackson is not too comfortable with me holding Bryn. He had to snuggle the closest.

Even Jay got a little baby fever

After Owen's party we unfortunately had to miss Chandler's 2nd birthday party b/c Jackson wasn't feeling too peppy. He needed a nap in a major way! But that night he felt better and we were able to go to Adrienne and Damian's neighborhood block party. We had such a great time!

Jackson LOVES a good bounce house!

After the block party we went back to the Hirst house and put the kids to bed, had dinner and played cards. We had such a fun time and laughed until we almost cried. It was just what we all needed. What a blessing to have them live so close! Now we just have to tell Ellie and Jackson about the arranged marriage!

Today was Grandmommy's birthday so after church we went to my mom and Jimmy's to celebrate with lunch.

Jackson loves to climb Gaga's stairs

All in all it was a great weekend! I just hated to miss little Cora's baptism in Memphis but I'm looking very forward to seeing her in November!

Happy Birthday!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Happy 28th Birthday Aunt Jenna!!!!!

Secure in His Manhood

Jackson has always slept with a blue pillow that Jay and I got from Bed Bath and Beyond as a wedding present. Anyway, he is obsessed with this pillow and just LOVES it. When he was sick that poor pillow found itself immersed in what I will just refer to as general "grossness" to spare you the gory details. We have been searching for a replacement since and been very unsuccessful. Then last night Nana called and said she'd found TWO of those magical pillows in the airport in Boston. The only problem was that they were pink and did we want them. Well, YES we did want them and thanks so much for finding them Nana! We figure Jax is secure enough in his manhood and a pink pillow is better than none:) Anyway, when we get them I'll have to get a picture with Jax and post it. But for now here's picture from Cape Cod of the sacred blue pillow. . .

Owen's Counrty Farm

Today we went to Owen's Country Farm with the moms group from Church. It was going to be so much fun and I just knew that Jackson would love feeding the animals. Unfortunately by the time we got there Jax wasn't feeling very good. When we got on the hay ride and someone commented on how Jackson was such a "calm and quiet little guy" I knew something was wrong. He didn't even notice the animals or want to walk around. So we quickly left. Once we got home he still didn't feel better. He had a fever the rest of the day and I just rocked him. Luckily I was able to take him to get an adjustment so I'm just praying that he wakes up feeling great and fever free tomorrow! Here are some of the pictures from today, poor little guy could barely smile:(
