Jay's Favorite Picture

During the week Jay doesn't get much time with Jackson because Jackson goes to bed between 5:30 and 6 each night. However, Jay gets to spend some special bonding time putting Jax to bed. Jackson gets so excited to have Jay rocking him to bed that he just lays there and smiles behind his bottle. The hidden behind the bottle smile is Jay's favorite in the world and we were able to get a picture of it.

Little Man Jack. . .

Jackson will be 9 months old tomorrow. I was thinking today that I can't believe he's now been out in the world for as long as I was pregnant. Jay then reminded me that I was pregnant longer than 40 weeks. . .how soon we forget!

Despite some serious teething right now he's still the joy of our lives and such a treat to be with each day. Yesterday we went to the Dr. for his 9 month check up and he's actually not the giant he had been:) As of yesterday he was 23 pounds 12 ounces (at 6 months he was 23 pounds 6 ounces) and still 31 inches. He's just in the 90% for height and weight and 97+% for head circumference. He's definitely got the huge Sheriff head but his other percentiles have dropped due to his being so mobile!

He's still a super fast crawler and pulling up and walking around holding onto everything. He can stand by himself for a little while but has only taken one independent step between furniture. I still think walking is a while off. . .which I am just fine with!

His favorite game right now is ball. He loves to stand at the top of his baby slide and throw the ball to me and then clap for himself when I catch it. Then I throw it back to him and more clapping follows. This game can go on for much longer than you would think. Yesterday I'm pretty sure we played ball for over an hour. But with him clapping and being so happy (despite his top two teeth breaking through and a double ear infection) I was happy to keep playing. It sure beat the crying he had done for HOURS before the game started.

Eating is still a challenge but we are going to fix that in the next two weeks or we have to go to a feeding clinic. I'm not sure what a baby feeding clinic does but I really don't think I want to find out!

Here are some pictures of our "ball" game!

A New Swing!

Danielle and Jimmy Patterson gave us an awesome swing at our baby shower and last weekend Jay hung it in our front yard. This has quickly become Jackson's favorite thing to do. He literally cries when we take him out of it and yesterday he even feel asleep in the swing!

Jackson's Dedication

On Sunday Jackson was dedicated at our church. We had a great time and he was very well behaved:) Paw Paw and Nanny were there but had to leave before we could do pictures and Papa and Nana were in Chicago but we missed them. Thanks to all of you who made the day special!

I Turned 30!!!!

Last Saturday was my 30th birthday and it was AWESOME!!! Jenna, Mia, Lennon and Mandy came into town for the party. My dad and Laura threw a really fun party with tons of food, drinks, karaoke and about 50 people. We had a blast and I really appreciate all that all of my family and friends did to make it a really special day! I'll post the pictures soon but there are so many I need to find just a few to display:)

Attack of the Mommy Duck!

This morning as I was making Jay breakfast and he was getting ready to leave for work we noticed a flock of ducks on our front porch. Jay wanted Jackson to see the ducks so we ventured out to amuse our little son. After seeing many adult ducks we saw a herd of baby ducks with their mother on our side yard. Jay again decided Jackson would really get a kick out of petting a baby. I warned Jay that the mommy might not like him grabbing a baby. . .even just for the innocent entertainment of our precious child:) Anyway, Jay did pick up the baby and the mother did attack him. She flew up in to his back (which is still recovering from his wreck) and tore a small hole in his shirt. She then went for his head and scratched up his hand. After seeing that Jay was not really hurt we got hysterical. It reminded me of the movie Forget Paris with the bird in the hair. So funny! Jackson was just doing his happy dance (flailing his arms and legs while laughing wildly) as I scurried away not wanting the mommy to attack us!
So, Jay was malled by a mother duck before 7 this morning. Ahhh building family memories is awesome!

Healthy Sleep Habits. . . .Happy Mommy?

Well, after Jackson's erratic sleeping (or lack there of) last week I'm reading "healthy sleep habits, happy child" again. I read part of it while pregnant but haven't had any problems so I never picked it back up. Last week that all changed. . .Jackson started getting up at around 4:20 a.m.! And then not napping ANY during the day. Definitely didn't work well for us. So, we're trying some new methods this week and praying things will get better. So far there has been some improvement but we're letting him cry and it's just heart breaking! But the good news is that he's very happy throughout the day. Here are some pictures from last week (he doesn't look sleep deprived. . .good thing I'm not in the pictures).

And on the positive side we are counting down the hours until Jenna, Mia and Lennon get here Thursday. We are SO excited to have them! They are coming for my 30th (wow, can I really be that old?!?) birthday party and I just can't wait to have Jackson with his precious cousins! I'm sure we'll have lots of party and kiddo pictures to post next week!
